 Liverpool midfielder Gill Hart feels that there is more to come from her side as they continue to adjust to life in the National Division following promotion last season.On Sunday they recorded their first win of the season, a narrow 1-0 victory over fellow top flight newcomers Bristol City and 23-year-old Gill gave an impressive display alongside Ceryl Jones in the middle of the Liverpool midfield. 'Pool were made to work very hard for their win, as Gill admitted to Women's Soccer Scene after the game. "It wasn't our best performance today," she said, "but we got the three points and that's all that matters." There was a scare for Liverpool in the second half as Bristol City missed from the penalty spot. "I didn't think it was a penalty," says Gill. "The ref could have given them a goal instead but fortunately for us they missed." With four points from their first three games, Liverpool currently sit in the middle of the table and Gill is more than satisfied with the way they have managed so far. "I think we've held our own and done quite well. We played well against Charlton and should have beaten Fulham - we had chances but didn't put them away. But we feel we need to improve, like today we didn't play well but we're working hard and we will get there. "Ideally we are looking for a mid-table place, as long as we stay up! We want to get through this season and progress from there." Liverpool's success last season in winning the Northern Division undefeated and their encouraging start has been down to a team effort, and Gill is quick to recognise this. "The strength of the team lies all over, not just in midfield but in defence and up front as well. We work as a unit, so it's all over the pitch." In two weeks time, Liverpool play their first derby match against Everton for three years after their return to the National Division. According to Gill, the whole of the squad are looking forward to the game: "We'll be ready for that one. Everton are obviously a good side, but we've just got to try and rattle them and hopefully we will!" she laughs.
