Everton manager Mo Marley admitted that the better team had won on the day, following her side's 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic in the F.A.Women's Cup Final at Upton Park. "I'm probably more disappointed with the way we played than the result," she said. "We know we can play a lot better than that. Charlton were the better team and deserved to win the game, but we know we could offer more and we'll use this to try and bounce back next year. "I don't think we showed much signs of playing as a team - we worked hard but didn't do enough with the ball when we had it. Lots to do with the game plan didn't work properly. "They were sharper than we were and moved to the ball quicker. We were reactive rather than proactive. Our response to the goal was magnificent but probably a little too much too late. "But we should forget the progress we have made in a short time. 18 months ago we were relegation candidates but now we have finished third and reached a Cup Final. We've come out with a lot of creditability this season, and we are going in the right direction. Now we have to push on to that next stage where we can win trophies." Mo absolved goalkeeper Danielle Hill of any blame over the goal and paid tribute to the youngster. "Danielle is just 17 and still learning the game," she said. "She had a fantastic game overall and she will keep getting better." Lindsay Johnson, who gave a determined display in the Everton back four, said that she was "just gutted" with the result and added: "I don't think we got going until they scored the goal, but it was panicky football rather than relaxed. "Now we just want to get back into it and think about next season."
