England Head Coach Hope Powell announced her squad of 20 for Euro 2005 at Soho Square today and is sure to take one of, if not the, youngest squads into the tournament.Eight of the named players are survivors from the last time England played in a major tournament in 2001 but no less than six members have only made their full debuts as recently as this season. The surprise omission from the squad is Leeds United winger Sue Smith, who had been England's most capped player available for selection. The honour of the highest capped player in the selected squad falls to Rachel Yankey. Other absentees include Rachel McArthur and Kristy Moore but Rachel Brown has won a place, despite not having played a competitive match for nearly 18 months, whilst Katie Chapman is fit to join the squad after missing the end of the season with a broken hand.
