 Jo Potter admitted that Charlton Athletic had been given a tough match by Bristol City as they began the defence of the F.A.Women's Cup with a 4-1 victory at Oaklands Park on Sunday.The Addicks, who had been playing their first competitive match in more than a month, saw off their opponents with three late goals and the talented midfielder gave an honest assessment to Women's Soccer Scene after the game. "It was a hard battle," she said. "The pitch wasn't the best and they (City) played very well but there are no excuses. We made hard work of it with the chances we had to put the game to rest earlier than we did. "With us not taking our chances, we wondered if it would be one of those days but, when they equalised, it gave us a kick up the backside and we improved from there." Next up for Charlton is a trip to Fulham in the Fifth Round and Jo is taking nothing for granted. "We always play well against Fulham," she replies, "we gave one of our best performances of the season when we beat them 6-0 earlier in the season but we know it's not going to be an easy game. They (Fulham) always battle hard and we are going to have to be on top form it we are going to reach the next round." Jo joined Charlton from Birmingham City during the summer and therefore was not a member of their Cup winning side at the end of last season, but she is fully aware of the team's determination to repeat their success this time around. "I know that players like Casey Stoney have that desire," she says. "Before the game she was saying 'this is our Cup and we want to keep hold of it' and I feel the same as them. I'm a Charlton player now and I feel like it is my Cup as well, and I want to defend it as much as them. "Our main objective is to win the league and anything else that comes along is a bonus. It's always great to play in an F.A.Cup Final - the day and occasion is fabulous, but the league would be great to win and qualify for Europe, where there is no better experience." In the meantime Jo has joined up with the England squad for their training camp in La Manga this week. She made her full debut earlier in the season and has featured in all of the World Cup qualifying games so far. "It's always a great experience to go away with England," she enthuses. "I always enjoy it and give it my best shot. I was called up for the Austria game and managed to get a start and came on against both Hungary and Holland, so I am really happy with how things are going with England at the moment. I'll just keep playing as well as I can and hopefully it can continue."
