 Michelle Evans is confident that Everton can have a big say in the title race following their 2-0 victory away to leaders Bristol Academy on Sunday.The 19-year-old winger scored one of the goals and she told Women's Soccer Scene that things are improving following a difficult patch. "It was a good performance by the team," says Michelle. "We knew we had a job to do today against the team which is top of the league and I thought we did really well to get a result out of the game. "We're on a winning streak at the moment, so hopefully it will continue. We're pushing for top spot - things are going well for us at the moment. "For this season, we are pushing for second - if not first. We are still in the battle, it was a good result today against the top team and we have still got Arsenal and Charlton to come, so we will see." Michelle's second half strike wrapped up the points and she revealed that the goal was a particularly welcome one. "I'm on a bit of a goal drought," she laughs, "only two so far this season, but it's nice to score." After a spell at left back, Michelle has been restored to the left wing but she admits she has no real preference over where she plays. "You always want to get forward and score goals for your club," she replies. "But you can also attack from left back, so I don't mind playing in either position." The win came on the back of the midweek England under-21 friendly against France and Michelle, who played in both matches, admitted that it was starting to take its toll. "It takes it out of your legs," she says, "and I was still a bit tired from Wednesday but I thought I did alright." Like her England team mates, Michelle was taken aback by the near 5,000 strong crowd which turned up on the night at Exeter. "It was great," she smiles. "The crowd got right behind us. I thought it was a brilliant turnout and it was really good to play in front of all those fans. They were loud and kept us going throughout the match. "1-1 was a fair result in the end but we could have ground it out and held on. It was disappointing to let in such a late goal. "It's always nice to be picked for your country and I'll try my best to stay in there, but there is a lot of competition for places so I will need to fight hard."
