 After 13 successive league defeats, Fulham finally broke their duck on Sunday with a 1-0 win against Sunderland which earned them their first points following several months of struggle.Striker Amy Found, who was playing in an attacking midfield role, scored the only goal of the game and she told Women's Soccer Scene of the joy and relief felt by everyone at the club. "When we final whistle went, we didn't know how to react!" she laughed. "It was brilliant. It's been a long time coming - after the game, we thought 'Oh my God, we've won, what do we do now' - and it was a great moment." The winning goal came late in the second half and Fulham needed to hold on for the victory. "The ball was given to me just inside the area and I saw where the keeper was, hit it to her left and it went in," says Amy, who rejoined Fulham earlier in the season from Chelsea. "The last few minutes seemed to go on forever," she added. "I never thought a game would go on so long! When the final whistle blew, I just fell to the floor with relief. All of the girls have been pushing each other for the win and we were a bit shocked afterwards. "It was a great team performance, Marie Hourihan pulled off some great saves in goal but everyone worked hard and played their part. We lost 2-1 at Sunderland earlier in the season but I felt we were the better side, so we went out and did our best, and got what we deserved. "That win was for our supporters and people such as our manager Mark Saunderson and Fred Brockwell, who has done so much to keep the club alive. It was great to see our supporters' faces after the game and to give them what they wanted." Before the win, Fulham's results had shown a marked improvement from the early matches, which included some heavy defeats, and Amy feels that there are a number of factors which have helped. "We have new training facilities and now have a fitness coach," she says. "Everyone is clubbing together, the team spirit is fantastic and everyone is working hard. We still believe that we can win games and that we can stay up, so we are just trying to pick up as much as we can. "People think that it is going to be easy when they play us but we are still fighting. The performances we have put in lately have been brilliant. Anyone seeing the player together would think that we are top of the league, as the spirit is wonderful and morale is still high. "There have been a lot of low points but we have gone back to the drawing board each time. Now, we have a more settled side and can work on things in training." 18-year-old Amy is one of the more experienced players of a young squad but she insists that they will be stronger after coming through their troubles. "The potential of the girls we have in the club is great," she says. "We are just learning our trade right now, we're still a young side and maybe one to watch for the future. "We do have players aged 16 in the squad but now we have depth and a few players who are more experienced. I am really happy at the club and one of the best decisions I have ever made was to come back."
