AFC Team Bath have been relegated from the Southern Division after their season ended with a 3-2 defeat away to West Ham Utd. Tracey Duxbury put the Hammers in front on the stroke of half time and although a Zoe Marshall own goal levelled the scores, Sam Pittuck and Katy Ling added further goals for West Ham. Holly Miles pulled one back from the penalty spot but it was too late for Team Bath who will have to play Combination League football next season. Team Bath's fate was sealed as Brighton & Hove Albion won 2-1 at Newquay to guarantee their safety. After a goalless first half, Katie Hodges and Natasha Wells scored vital goals for the Seagulls who held on for the points despite conceding a late goal to Carley Barber. WFC Fulham meanwhile took themselves to within one victory of clinching the title, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Portsmouth. Lauren Phillips gave Fulham a first half lead which was cancelled out by Fiona McMillan. Second placed Barnet also drew, sharing a goalless match away to Millwall Lionesses. Fulham could be crowned as Champions as early as Thursday night, if Barnet are unable to beat West Ham Utd. If Barnet win, Fulham then have a chance to sew up the title next Sunday when they take on Colchester Utd. Colchester meanwhile still harbour hopes of a top half finish in their first season in the league, which they boosted with a 7-0 victory over Reading Royals. Rosee Golding, Kate Longhurst and Danielle Griffiths gave the U's a three goal lead inside the first twelve minutes and Longhurst went on to complete a hat-trick, with further goals through Paige Chappell and Alice Nutman. | ||||||||||||||||
