 The curtain has come down on the international career of the most capped Wales women's player, Kath Morgan.Kath, who is Head of Girls PE at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydyfelin, has won 51 senior international caps for her country. A full back, she has featured regularly over the last twelve years, since making her debut against the Republic of Ireland in the 1995-96 season. She has also captained the side. Down the years she has served Inter Cardiff, Barry Town, Bristol Rovers, Bristol Academy and finally Keynsham Town. Kath told www.faw.org.uk: 'I have always been very proud to represent my country and I will certainly miss it in the future. Most of my life seems to have revolved around football training, keeping fit and playing matches, so it will take some getting used to. "I suppose I never wanted to retire really, but naturally I wish the team all the best with the last few matches in the current tournament." That tournament has seen Wales fail to win in any of the group matches in the UEFA Women's Championships so far. Now, with two matches to go, manager Adrian Tucker feels it is time to look at his options with future squads in mind. He says: "I've spoken with Kath and after the discussion it was decided to call it a day with her playing career for Wales. She has been a great servant to the female game in Wales and her dedication and commitment within training and games has been first class. I'm sure she will remain a role model to any of the current or future Welsh players." To that end, Kath, who already holds the UEFA 'B' and 'C' coaching badges will be embarking on the 'A' Licence course this summer at Aberystwyth. Her final tally was 51 full caps with two goals. Her final appearance came at Jenner Park, Barry, this season in the narrow 1-0 defeat against Belgium. She also made one appearance for the Wales Under-20 side. The Football Association of Wales salutes Kath for her work over the years and thanks her for her service. We hope we will soon see her continuing her love for the game in a coaching capacity.
