Keynsham Town entertained their Irish touring visitors Drogheda Utd on Saturday in a game that was full of goals and also successfully raised around £200 from programme sales 200 for the Keynsham Mencap charity. In an interesting encounter, the home side's superior fitness began to tell as early as the first half and although Drogheda put up stubborn resistance for a good 20 minutes it was Keynsham who went in at the break with a 3-0 lead with goals from Hari Sabic, Bethan Lloyd and the industrious Ana Bruni. In the second half, Keynsham rested some players that were expected to face Crystal Palace the following day and a more even game ensued, with both sides scoring freely and an ultimate 6-3 victory for Keynsham with Lloyd, Bruni and Kayleigh Sage adding the home side's other goals. Keynsham Manager Barrie Newton said; ' It was a useful work out for us. I was concerned about playing two games in successive days, but little did we know that our game, the next day, at Crystal Palace would be cancelled due to flooding in London, while we were travelling en route. "I was very pleased with the performance of our Reserves top scorer, Bethan Lloyd and centre back Aimee Clark and with a strong return after suspension from Kelly Watkins. That will give me a nice problem when selecting our squad for the Somerset County Cup Final (against Team Weston) next Sunday.'
