Bournemouth's first County Cup triumph
 Women's Football News 18 Apr 2008

AFC Bournemouth lifted the Hampshire FA Challenge Cup on Sunday with a 5-0 victory over Southampton University in the Final.

After a slow start, Lyndsey Roe hit the bar for Bournemouth and at the other end, Rachael Simkin pulled off a good save from a goalmouth scramble.

The breakthrough was made on 33 minutes as Roe played the ball into the penalty area, it was flicked on by Kirsty Bell into the path of Lisa Langrish who slotted the ball home to give Bournemouth the lead. With the pressure from Bournemouth firmly mounting, a second goal came from Langrish through a 20-yard lob.

In the second half, a wonderful through ball to Michelle Keehan presented the Bournemouth midfielder with a simple chance to make it three, which she duly converted. Keehan then pounced on a mistake in the Southampton defence to score her second with a 35-yard drive.

Keehan saw a shot tipped onto the post brilliantly by Bishop, with Goater hitting the bar with the rebound. Langrish completed her hat-trick in the dying minutes from a 25-yard free kick to seal Bournemouth's first ever victory in this competition.
