Yeovil Town v Newquay

F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Yeovil Town came through their much delayed Second Round tie with a 4-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers, Anusia Rourke scoring twice with others from Stacey Pearson and Jemma Tewkesbury. They will be at home again this week against another high riding South West Combination team.

Newquay Ladies football team was formed in June 2000 after a few ladies, who were regulars at Mount Wise, showed an interest in forming their own team. A meeting was arranged at Newquay Football Club and the initial response was quite good. Success came early for the club, winning the Cornwall County League two years running before entering the South West Women's League, where they carried off the Division One South title and Bristol Soccerworld Cup at the first attempt.

The Premier Division title was landed the following season and, after just two seasons in the South West Combination, Newquay won promotion to the Premier League after finishing as League Champions. However they were unable to sustain their status and, after a season's name change to Truro City, they were relegated back to the Combination at the end of last season.

This season, after being renamed as Newquay once again, they sit on top of the South West Combination as they attempt to reclaim their Premier League status at the first attempt. Christian Lett is First Team manager, assisted by Peter Armstrong with Bernard McGivern as coach and the side is captained by Jess Longworth. Sarah Mansfield and Vicky Barter have been regulars on the scoresheet for Newquay this season and other key members of the squad include Annie Richards, Nicky Lake, Hayley Stroud and goalkeeper Jade Tregale.

Yeovil were narrow 2-1 winners when the two sides met earlier this season and Sunday's match, at Somerton Sports Ground, is sure be be another very close battle. The winners will have a trip to either Milton Keynes Dons or Norwich City in the Fourth Round.
