Gunners close the gap
 Women's Football News 25 Jan 2010

Arsenal defeated Chelsea 2-1 to move to within four points of leaders Sunderland in the National Division.

After the first half finished goalless, the Gunners took the lead ten minutes after the restart through Gemma Davison and substitute Danielle Carter added the second nine minutes from time.

Lianne Sanderson gave Chelsea hope by pulling a goal back three minutes later but Arsenal saw the game out for three important points.

Meanwhile in the Southern Division, Crystal Palace registered their first point of the season and ended an unwanted run of eleven straight defeats by sharing a 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls had looked to be on their way to victory when Lucy Mangan put them in front early on in the second half but an equaliser eight minutes from time by Eleanor Bracey earned Palace a share of the spoils.
