Bristol City re-sign Katie Robinson

Katie Robinson has signed for Bristol City Women from Barclays WSL 1 side Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal, keeping her at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2028.

Robinson began her career at City, rising through the academy system before making her debut in 2018. She now returns to the club as it continues to embark on a new era under the ownership of Mercury 13.

The forward signed her first professional contract with Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2020. Despite a knee injury in her first season, Robinson became a regular member of Hope Powell’s Brighton side by the 2021-22 season. The youngster impressed and signed fresh terms before joining Charlton Athletic for the second half of the 2021-22 season to gain vital match minutes before returning to the Sussex side to win the Young Player of the Season award in 2022-23. Robinson scored 10 goals in 68 appearances for the Seagulls before joining Aston Villa in July 2024. The now City player made 21 appearances for the Villans before joining Everton on loan in July 2025.

City’s new arrival joins having most recently made 12 appearances for the Blues in Barclays WSL 1.

Born in Cornwall, Robinson has been capped at youth level for England and earned her first senior Lionesses call-up in November 2022, making her debut in a friendly against Norway later that month. Present in every squad thereafter, Robinson helped the Lionesses win the Arnold Clark Cup and the inaugural Women’s Finalissima in early 2023.

Later that year, Sarina Wiegman named the then 20-year-old in her 23-woman squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand – making her the youngest member of the squad as they finished runners-up.

City have also signed Jessie Gale on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season. The 19-year-old forward began her professional career with Charlton before joining the Gunners’ academy aged 17 in January 2024.

Gale signed her first professional contract with Arsenal in July 2025, and has spent the first half of the season on loan with Portsmouth. This season, Gale has scored five goals in 15 appearances for Pompey.
