Elmden Rovers create welcoming Just Play provision
Elmden Rovers FC are making a real difference to women’s football in Tendring through the launch of their inclusive Just Play sessions, providing a much needed opportunity for women of all ages and abilities to get involved in the game.
Led by Rebecca Chapman and Kay at Elmden Rovers, the sessions have been established in an underserved area where opportunities for women and girls to play football have historically been limited. The weekly provision offers a relaxed, friendly environment where like-
The project extends beyond football alone. By working in collaboration with local children’s activity provider Child & Provide, the club have created a safe and welcoming space where participants are able to bring their children along while they take part. This innovative approach removes a common barrier to participation and ensures football is accessible to more women in the local community.
Speaking following a visit to Elmden, Essex County FA Football Development Officer, Harry Moreton, praised the club’s local impact: “It was great to see the passion behind Elmden’s programme. They are providing a unique opportunity in the area for women to get together and play football, whilst also providing a safe space for their children to play. We’re excited to support the club moving forward as they look to grow and develop their women’s and girls’ provisions.”
