Everton too strong for valiant Albion

Yuka Momiki netted a brilliant first half brace as Everton produced a commanding performance to beat third-tier side

West Bromwich Albion 5-0 at the Alexander Stadium, becoming the first side to secure their place in the Fifth Round of

the Adobe Women's FA Cup this season.

The Women's Super League outfit, managed by Brian Sørensen, made light work of their National League opponents in this live televised Fourth Round tie on Thursday evening, showcasing their superior quality throughout against opponents who never gave up.

Japanese international midfielder Momiki opened the scoring after just nine minutes, slotting home coolly after being played in behind the West Brom defence by Toni Payne. She doubled the lead shortly before half time with a superb strike from the edge of the area, firing an unstoppable effort across the face of goal to give the Toffees a comfortable two-goal advantage at the break.

The floodgates opened early in the second period, with Everton adding three more goals in quick succession to seal a resounding victory. Leading scorer Ornella Vignola calmly converted to make it 3-0 shortly after the restart, demonstrating her clinical finishing, and Payne then added a fourth with a well taken effort, before Issy Hobson completed the rout, rifling home from close range to cap a professional display from the visitors.

This win sees Everton progress comfortably into the next round, where they will hope to build momentum in the competition. For West Brom, despite a valiant effort against higher tier opposition, the night ultimately highlighted the gulf between the divisions.
