Genero Adran Leagues

Connah’s Quay Nomads produced a dominant display to strengthen their grip on the Genero Adran North title race, thrashing Berriew 10-0 at Deeside Stadium on Sunday.

The only action in the league came in the North division and the reigning champions wasted no time in asserting control, with Elana Harley opening the scoring early by meeting Phoebe Ellis’ corner with a looping header that came back off the bar and in for her first goal of the season. Polly Wild-McGregor doubled the advantage after 19 minutes, latching onto Ellis’ through ball before calmly slotting home.

The floodgates began to open just after the half hour mark when Wild-McGregor was fouled in the box, allowing Ella Jones to convert the resulting penalty. Jones then went on to complete her hat-trick with two more strikes early in the second half.

Jordan Parry’s side showed no signs of easing up and Megan Galeandro curled in a superb effort from distance just after the hour to make it 5-0, before Jones tapped in from Wild-McGregor’s square pass moments later to claim her fourth goal of the match – marking the third time in four games that she has netted four goals. Jones was far from finished, bringing down Hallie Billingsley’s long ball with composure before finishing past Berriew goalkeeper Ayesha Jones to take her personal tally to five. She then rounded off a remarkable individual performance with a sixth goal, bringing up her 17th league strike of the season.

Galeandro had the final say late on, producing another excellent long range finish to bring up double figures and seal a fifth successive league victory for the Nomads, who now sit seven points clear at the summit.

In the day’s other action, second placed Flint Town United failed to keep pace with the leaders after letting slip a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw away at Felinheli.

Ruby Hastings and Rosie Hughes put Flint 2-0 up after an hour, but Llywela Edwards pulled one back before Katie Midwinter levelled with a stunning strike, completing a spirited late comeback for the hosts within the space of 17 minutes.

Flint remain in second position but are now seven points behind Connah’s Quay Nomads. Felinheli, meanwhile, pick up a valuable point that keeps them in fifth place after securing four points from their opening matches this season.

The result leaves the title race firmly in the hands of the rampant Nomads, who continue to set an imposing standard in Genero Adran North.
