Women’s Scottish Cup draw

Partick Thistle will host Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup holders Rangers in the last eight of the competition.

The draw took place at Barclays Hampden on Monday night with SK Brann forward and Scotland international Lauren Davidson joining host Gordon Duncan to draw the ties.

Nine-time winners Glasgow City will take on Armadale Thistle or Stenhousemuir whilst Dundee United will travel to the winners of Aberdeen against Montrose. Celtic will face Stirling University or Heart of Midlothian.

The ties will be played on Sunday, 15 February.

After the draw, Davidson reflected on her first trophy lift: “Winning the league in Norway this year was amazing but the first trophy you lift is always special. My first silverware was with Hibs in 2018 when we won the Scottish Cup.

“I started the game on the bench and came on after Abi Harrison got injured. We won the game 8-0 and I managed to get on the scoresheet as well so it was a really special day.

“It doesn’t get any better than lifting silverware and it’s amazing to have done that now in two different countries. Winning the league with Glasgow City was incredible, especially the way that we did it. Scoring that injury time winner at Ibrox was a moment that will live with me forever.

“It meant so much to have my family there and my Mum has that video on repeat nearly every day.”

The winger has spent the last 18 months in Norway and says making the move to Scandinavia has developed her as a player and as a person, adding: “After my time with City, I felt ready for a new challenge and I had a gut feeling that it was the right move for me.

“I think I’ve developed on and off the pitch and I’ve definitely matured. I’m a lot more comfortable in my own space now and I’ve adapted to the culture which has given me a lot of confidence.

“In terms of the football, it’s a lot more physical than what I was used to in Scotland and it’s a lot more competitive.”

The 24-year-old has notched up 26 senior caps so far for Scotland and is relishing the prospect of the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers under new boss Melissa Andreatta. She said: “Working with Mel has brought in a really new and fresh energy to the group and all the players are fully invested in what Mel and the coaches are doing.

“I think you can see the positive steps from our recent performances too. I absolutely love being part of it and personally, there’s no bigger honour than playing for your country and it’s an exciting time to be involved with the start of a new qualification cycle next month.

“I’ve never been to a major tournament so that’s something that I really want to achieve and I know that this is a group of staff and players that are going to give everything to make that happen.”

Five sides secured their place in tomorrow's quarter final draw at Barclays Hampden with three matches postponed.

Glasgow City were the first to book their spot in the last eight of the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup 2025-26. Leanne Ross’ side were clinical at both ends of the pitch with a decisive 6-0 victory over Queen’s Park at Petershill. Three braces from Lisa Forrest, Emma Brownlie and Natalia Wróbel secured the win and progress to the next round.

Next into the hat was Celtic. They faced off against SWPL rivals Hibernian at Meadowbank. Emma Lawton opened the scoring in the first half, bagging the first goal under new boss, Grant Scott, who was up against his former club. Morgan Cross doubled Celtic’s lead on the stroke of half time to put the visitors two up at the break. Hibs had the perfect start to the second-half with two quickfire goals from Tiree Burchill and Eilidh Adams to level the scoring, but Celtic were quickly back in front thanks to Maria McAneny on 52 minutes. Hibs continued to search for another equaliser but Celtic held strong for the win, seeing out the match with a 3-2 victory.

Next up was Dundee United who saw off Bonnyrigg Rose with a 5-1 win. It was the first ever meeting between the two sides and it took United until the half hour mark before they broke the deadlock against the SWF Championship side. A goal from Katie Frew put the hosts ahead and this was quickly followed by a strike from Danni Findlay five minutes later to double their advantage. Rachel Todd added a third in the second half whilst Kazya Stevens grabbed an impressive consolation for Bonnyrigg, scoring directly from a corner to take it to 3-1. United went on to make it five inside the last ten minutes with further goals from Rachel Todd and Robyn Smith.

In the late kick off, Rangers opened the scoring early against Kilmarnock thanks to a precise header from Katie Wilkinson who put the home side ahead inside 12 minutes. Not satisfied with the assist for the first goal, Mia McAulay unleased a shot from the edge of the box and doubled Rangers’ lead just before the half hour mark. Quinty Sabajo made it three with a long range effort just before the break. Eilidh Austin added a fourth on 67 minutes before Laura Berry and Kim Shin-Ji completed proceedings to round off an impressive 6-0 win over the SWPL2 leaders.

Partick Thistle also opened their account early against Boroughmuir Thistle. Erin Rennie got the first goal for Gary Holt’s side before grabbing a second midway through the half. Rebecca McAllister got on the scoresheet on 58 minutes before Rennie struck again, securing her hat-trick, a 4-0 win and a place in the last eight for the Firhill team.

Three matches succumbed to the weather with Stirling University v Hearts the first to be rescheduled. This match will now be played on Wednesday, 14 January at 7.45pm. Armadale Thistle v Stenhousemuir and Aberdeen v Montrose will also be played at a later date.
