Leaders United extend lead

Dundee Utd have taken a firm grip on the SWPL 2 title race after they defeated nearest rivals Glasgow Women 2-0 on Sunday.

Both goals came inside the opening half hour, Danni McGinley giving United a tenth minute lead and an own goal from the unfortunate Nicola Reid made it two, setting a result which takes United six points clear of second placed Glasgow, having played a game less.

Boroughmuir Thistle have climbed up to third place on the back of a 4-1 victory away to Stirling University. Elvie McLean netted two of the goals for Thistle, whose other scorers were Fiona Gibson and Courtney McAvoy, whilst the home side's consolation came from Robin Gallacher.

St Johnstone meanwhile claimed their second league win of the season, 2-0 against Queen's Park. They took the lead on the half hour through an own goal, and St Johnstone made the points safe when Morgan Steedman scored the second, nine minutes into the second half.
