Impressive win for Scotland Under-
Two laye goals saw Scotland come from behind to win 2-
Championship qualifying group matc in Kirkintilloch.
Gary Doctor made two changes to the side that started against Norway, Sophia Martin and Neve McDonald were replaced by Lily Boyce and
Izzy Young.
From kick off, Scotland were defensively solid, as a well worked free-
Scotland had their first real attack of the game as Sophie Townsley chased down what looked to be a lost cause and got a great ball across the face of goal as Juul Oudenenampsen had to scramble it for a corner.
The Netherlands again came close as Ava Bijvank hit a long range shot, but it flew over the bar.
Scotland continued to force the Netherlands to shoot from difficult angles, this time Mila Wegerif shot over. As we reached the halfway point of the first half, Scotland continued to grow into the game as an Ella West cross was met by the lively Townsley but she couldn’t connect with the header to trouble the 'keeper.
A Jess Husband corner was only half cleared by Netherlands goalkeeper Danae van der Vliet and Ashley Robertson’s powerful strike went just wide of the post. Another Jess Husband corner was whipped into a dangerous area but West’s strong header was denied by van der Vliet.
Scotland continued to impress defensively as the Dutch had quick-
The Netherlands finally managed to break the Scottish defence just under ten minutes before half-
As we hit half time, the Scotland response was good, holding the majority of the ball and trying to work their way back into the game.
A strong start to the second half by Scotland with a great through ball by West, latched on to by Izzy Young but her shot was well saved by van der Vliet. The Dutch managed to get a shot away themselves from a 20-
Another good break for Scotland as Laura Berry did brilliantly to play substitute Neve McDonald through on the left, but yet again van der Vliet was equal to the shot. A good spell from Scotland saw Berry and Young both have shots blocked for corners as Scotland continued to push their opponents and get back into the game.
Jess Husband had a free kick that she won herself, played into a fantastic area but a combination of Berry and substitute Sophia Martin couldn’t get that decisive shot.
Scotland were given a penalty just ten minutes from time as Berry's shot was blocked by a Dutch hand, Berry took it herself and her penalty went under the goalkeeper to draw the teams level, that was Berry’s second goal of this qualifying group.
Just two minutes later Scotland would turn the game around as Neve McDonald sent a ball across goal at great pace and the Dutch turned the ball into their own net.
As the game reached stoppage time, Scotland were doing really well at keeping the ball up in the Dutch defensive third making it difficult for the Netherlands to push towards getting an equaliser.
The game came to an end as Scotland won after a two minute turnaround to leave them with four points from their first two games and a great chance of progressing to round two on Tuesday.
