![]() The 16-year-old played a major part in helping Forest beat one of the teams tipped to be among the challengers in the Northern Division this season. "I was happy to score two goals in my first league game this year," revealed Lauren, "as I only managed to score once last season. I hope to add more to the tally." Lauren was also pleased with the overall team performance. "I thought the team passed the ball around really well," she said. "It showed in the first half when we went 3-0 up. "My first goal came after some good team play. Reanne Thomas did some skill on the right wing and managed to get a shot on goal, only for the keeper to make a good save but, unfortunately for her, the ball was parried into my path and it was a simple tap in. "My other goal was also from some good play, Natalie Clarke brought the ball out of defence and switched the play to the right, to Annabel McKechnie who passed to Reanne Thomas, and she managed to send the cross in and I rose to head the ball into the net beyond the Tranmere keeper." The match was Forest's first since their pre-season friendly against Arsenal where they suffered a heavy defeat. "When we played against Arsenal I was nervous at first because of all the quality international players they had," admits Lauren. "But then my nerves went and I just played my own game. I was a bit disappointed with the result, but I know we can play much better as a team and hopefully we can build on the defeat and prove ourselves in the league this year." So what does Lauren think of her team's chances in the league this season? "I think we have a good chance of being in the top four," she replies. "We've had quite a few good players come to the club and hopefully this will make the team much stronger."
