 Kerry Bartlett admitted that Bristol Academy had to work very hard for their 2-1 victory over Birmingham City on Sunday.The striker scored one of the goals in the Bristol side's win but told Women's Soccer Scene after the game: "I think we did well in the end to cope with everything Birmingham threw at us. "We did okay in the first half but weren't as good as we were last week. Gary (Green) had a few words to say to us at half time but we battled well in the second half and stopped them getting through." Kerry joined Academy from Forest Green Rovers during the summer but has enjoyed a smooth transition from Combination football to the top flight and has five goals to her name so far. "It's going quite well," she modestly admits. "It is hard to get used to the pace but I am finding my feet and if I keep banging them in, that is great. "It's all happened quite quickly but I am enjoying it so, if I keep playing well and keep scoring, I'll be happy and hopefully the manager will be as well. "The pace is obviously a lot quicker and you get less touches on the ball. You don't get any bad teams at this level - all of them can play and they are all difficult opponents." Kerry has fitted in well alongside strike partner Justine Lorton and is keen to pay tribute to the experienced former Arsenal and Fulham striker. "Justine is brilliant," she says. "I watch her in training and on Sundays and try to learn from her all the time. She has really helped me so far and we have got a good understanding, so hopefully that can carry on. "Stef Curtis is also a very good player - if I was a defender, I wouldn't want her running at me! She didn't score today but played really well so hopefully the three of us, and the midfield, can all chip in with goals." Bristol Academy have now won four matches in a row, which has taken them into fourth place and Kerry feels that they should set their sights high for the season. "I don't think we should fear anyone, not even the Arsenals and the Charltons," she said. "If we had played them a little later, rather than at the start, things might have been a bit different. "Realistically we need to be aiming at the top three and I think we've got the squad to do it. Hopefully that is where we will finish."
