Isle of Man name Games squad
 Women's Football News 14 Jun 2007

Isle of Man name Games squad - 14 Jun 2007 - Women's Football NewsIsle of Man manager Keith Lunt has named a 20-player squad which will travel to Rhodes for the forthcoming Island Games.

It is no surprise that he has kept faith in the squad that just missed out on the medal placings in the Shetland Islands two years ago. Thirteen of the 20 players travelling to the Greek island were involved at the previous Island Games with Elizabeth Stanley, Bekki Cole, Kym Hicklin, Anna Quayle and Leanne Ashe included in an Island Games squad for the first time. The squad is as follows:

Elizabeth Stanley, Donna Harrison, Eleanor Gawne, Gill Christian (Rushen Utd), Leonie Roberts, Steph Hall, Helen Thomas, Sarah O'Reilly (Corinthians) Ceri Purvis, Kym Hicklin, Sarah Breen, Sam MacDonald, Bekki Cole (Douglas Royal), Jenna McStay, Hayley Cowin (Marown), Dawn Whetnall (Gymnasium), Rose Ozga, Anna Quayle, Donna Shimmin, Leanne Ashe (Malew).

There are currently 25 players involved in training with the Island Team as part of their preparations. However, two of the players included in the squad that will travel to Rhodes are battling against injury, which could mean that any of the remaining five players not named could be included as replacements. Matches will take place on stadia with astro-turf.

This is the first time women's football in the Games will be played outside of the British Isles. Due to the intense heat, the players and coaching staff will travel out on the Tuesday before to acclimatise to the conditions.

Matches (involving Isle of Man):
Sunday 1 July v Gotland - Municipal Stadium of Kremasti (5pm)
Monday 2 July v Gotland - Municipal Stadium of Aglos Apostolos (5pm)

Remaining matches depend on results in qualification.
