England's Kelly Smith is one of 26 players in contention for the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year Award.
After a successful World Cup in which she scored four times, Kelly, who was fifth in the voting last year, could be among the final three names from which the winner will be selected.
Last year's winner Marta is likely to be the favourite to keep hold of the award but former winner Birgit Prinz could also be a major contender.
The winners of the men's and women's award will be revealed at the FIFA World Player Gala at the Zurich Opera House on 17 December.
