Blackpool fight back for Cup - 8 May 2008 - Women's Football NewsBlackpool Wren Rovers staged a stunning fightback to complete the League and Cup 'double' in the North West League.

In a dramatic Regional Cup Final at Bamber Bridge, Blackpool looked unlikely to achieve the double as they trailed Liverpool Feds 3-0 at half time with goals from Lyndsey Doyle (2) and Natalie Holt. However, after the interval, Blackpool clawed their way back with goals from Debbie Standring, Carly Loughran and Michaela Barlow to take the game into extra time.

Barlow, who came on as an early substitute in the first half, made the most of her chance by notching her second and the winner for Blackpool in the second period of extra time.

Meanwhile the Regional Plate finalists endured torrential rain but still served up an intriguing treat for the vocal spectators with Chorley edging out Penrith Utd 1-0. Five minutes from time, Janette Rayton put Chorley ahead but Penrith rallied and a goalbound effort looked like sending the final into extra time but it struck the bar and bounced to safety with seconds to go.
