Plymouth Argyle striker Chloe Roberts completed a remarkable season by breaking two scoring records in the South West Combination in her final match. The 17-year-old hot shot netted eight times, beating the previous seven-goal record jointly held by Luciana Silva and Jenna Hopkins, as Argyle ran out 16-0 winners over relegated Southampton Saints, also a league record. Chloe's haul also meant that she set another new record for the most number of goals in a season, her tally of 41 surpassing Keynsham Town forward Sheila Rocha's previous tally. The feat is a remarkable one when considering she missed a large part of the season with a knee ligament injury. A delighted Chloe said after the game: "It was a great way to end a successful season and I am chuffed to get the record both for myself, and of course the team record for the biggest win. "The team were fantastic when my eighth went in for the record and shows the kind of spirit we have here at Argyle, they are a brilliant bunch of girls. We'll have a good break - I need one! - but are looking forward to picking up where we left off next season." | |||||||||||||||||
