National coach graces coaching event
 Women's Football News 30 May 2008

Essex County F.A.'s Female Coaching Association welcomes current England Girls' under-15 Coach Kay Cossington to Shrub End Community Centre in Colchester this week in a bid to inspire budding coaches of the future through the popular female figurehead.

The workshop, scheduled for this Saturday and with places being snapped-up fast, will include practical and theory work as well as offering the fantastic opportunity to watch an England coach deliver a practical session and ask questions about talent identification, Long Term Player Development (L.T.P.D.), Centre of Excellence programmes and the England set up.

"It's a major coup to get Kay along as she is the first Head Coach of an England female team to deliver a practical session in the County for our Coaches Association," revealed ECFA Girls' & Women's Development Officer, Emma Wake. "Kay is already an effective role model for young female coaches as she is the only female living in Essex who holds the 'A' Licence."

Participants can expect to be involved in watching an Under-16 Centre of Excellence girls' team taking part in a practical session whilst observing Kay and picking up ideas as well as immersing themselves in the open forum with her and the Centre Director. Emma continued: "We hold Coaches Association events every quarter and the last 'keynote' speaker was John Allpress, the Football Association's National Player Development coach for the 7-16 age range who has worked with national players at all levels and was instrumental in the creation of the LTPD strategy for football."

Kay played at West Ham United Ladies from a young age, and went on to manage their First Team for nine years from the tender age of 19, taking them to the Southern Division of the Premier League and two Cup Finals, as well as developing their youth structure.

This event is taking place on Saturday 31st May from 2pm-5pm with a cost of £5.00, which is refunded on arrival. Places can be booked via Emma Wake on (01245) 393076 or by returning the Booking Form available at www.essexfa.com as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
