![]() In a repeat of last year's Final, England goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer was called into action when making saves from Kim Kulig and Julia Simic. However Spencer stood no chance as the Germans took the lead ten minutes before half time, thanks to a firm strike by Marie Pollmann from the edge of the area. After the break, Remi Allen and Lizzie Edwards went close but Germany struck a decisive blow just before the hour mark, Pollmann volleying home her second goal from a Kulig cross. Spencer pulled off further saves as Germany sought a third goal, denying Pollmann her hat-trick as well as a point blank stop from Simic. The result means that Thursday's clash between England and Scotland has now taken on greater significance, with both sides needing a win to realistically keep their semi final hopes alive.
