She played for the Toon first team until the last few games of last season and scored the goal that knocked Whitley out of the Northumberland County Cup. She was extremely surprised at Whitley's approach and said she had never thought of playing for another club She said: "It was a big decision to leave Newcastle after such a long time. I have a lot of good friends there and have a lot to thank them for. However, Whitley Bay are now my club, they are ambitious, play at a good standard and seem to be a really nice bunch of girls. I am looking forward to spending pre-season with them and planning for the season ahead." Whitley manager Colin Phillips is delighted with his new signing. "Jo has played at a high level and has a great deal of experience," he said. "When I was looking for a centre back, she was my top target and I am delighted she is joining us."
