England are out of the UEFA Under-19 Championships after they drew their final group match 1-1 with ten-player Sweden, who go through to the semi finals where they will play Italy. England went into the game requiring a win to finish as group runners-up behind Germany and they got off to a great start, as Toni Duggan capitalised on hesitation in the Swedish defence and drilled a low shot past Nina Fellbrandt to give her side the lead. Duggan almost added a second as her angled shot was just past the far post but at the other end, there was a scare for England as Kosovare Asllani hit the post with a powerful strike. Rebecca Spencer then pulled off a good save from Sofia Jakobsson to ensure that her side went into the break with their lead intact. After the break, Sweden increased the pressure with Louise Fors going close but England could not hold back the tide and, just after the hour mark, Asllani was brought down by Gilly Flaherty in the area and Fors sent Spencer the wrong way from the penalty spot for the equaliser. Fors' joy was short lived as she was sent off a couple minutes later for a foul on Jessica Clarke which earned her a second yellow card. England piled forward in search of the goal which would take them into the last four but Sweden held firm. Jordan Nobbs went agonisingly close when she struck the post late on but they could not get the breakthrough and England's remaining hopes were over.
