![]() The Club played three games during its tour in their opening encounter, firslty they beat Danish side SB50 5-1 with last season's leading goalscorer Kerry Luckett bagging four goals. After a day off, they held highly rated tournament favourites, Swedish side BK Kick to a goalless draw following an outstanding defensive display and some fine goalkeeping from Sally Minett, to become the only team to steal points from the Champions before their final game ended in defeat after succumbing to the heat and intense schedule. In the club's opening pre-season friendly, Daventry more than matched Premier Division opponents Loughborough Dynamo who were indebted to trialist Sesh Mumtaz, scorer of the only goal of the game three minutes into the second half. Daventry hit the woodwork and missed several good chances before they were edged out by a useful Dynamo side who will be among the leading candidates to clinch to clinch some silverware this season. As Daventry Town Ladies make their preparations for life in the East Midlands League, motivated club Chairman Iain Humphreys seems to have already set out his goals for the ambitious team with this season's goal being "a top half finish for the aspiring Ladies Team." Daventry undertake their second friendly this coming Thursday evening when they entertain Northampton Town at Communications Park (7.45pm) before Corby S & L visit on the weekend, with a trip to Woodford United beckoning seven days later on Sunday 17th August.
