Nottingham Forest captured the Preston 11's Tournament Trophy with a 4-1 victory in the final over Preston North End. Forest came through the group stages with four victories from four games, beating Crystal Palace, PNE Women, PNE Ladies reserves and Wirral United to head the group, setting up a Midlands derby quarter final against rivals Derby County. Conceding their first goal against, Forest came from behind to draw level and send the game to penalties. Danni Maslin's save for Forest gave Derby County 'fan' Emily Simpkins the opportunity to step up and win the tie for Forest, which she duly took with little fuss. Forest's opponents in the semi final were to be Barnet, who it was considered possibly the strongest competition Forest would face on the day. Andi Bell's brace ensured Forest reached their second final in as many years, with the opposition being Preston North End, a side that Forest completed a convincing double against in last season's Northern Division. Andi Bell set the ball rolling with a fantastic opening goal before Natalie Clarke hit a devastating hat-trick to stun Preston and send the trophy back to Nottinghamshire. It was a day that acted as a very positive exercise in the pre-season campaign for Forest as they prepare for life in the highest echelon of women's football.
