Glasgow and Spartans in Final
 Women's Football News 10 Oct 2008

Glasgow City will play Spartans in this season's Scottish Women's Premier League Cup Final following their respective semi finals this week.

On Sunday, Glasgow defeated Celtic 3-1 in their tie which was brought forward because of City's involvement in the UEFA Women's Cup. Ruesha Littlejohn put them ahead when netting the rebound after Leanne Ross had struck the bar and Jane Ross doubled their lead shortly before half time. Jane Ross then scored her second after the break to sew up the win, with Celtic scoring a late consolation via a 25-yard strike from Jennifer Beattie.

On Wednesday night, Spartans booked their place in the Final for the second time in three years with a 5-3 victory over holders Hibernian. Diana Barry had a great night for Spartans as she netted four of the goals, with Hayley Lauder adding the other for the club which won the trophy two years ago.

The League Cup Final is set to be played on Saturday 8 November, at a venue yet to be announced.

The semi final victory completed a good week for Spartans who, on Sunday, moved to take over the leadership of the Scottish Women's Premier League by beating Forfar Farmington 4-1. Diana Barry again led the scoring with a brace and also on target were Dani Pagliarulo and Patricia McLaughlin.

Dundee Utd SC lifted themselves into the top half of the table as they ran out 4-0 winners over Boroughmuir Thistle. Emma Stewart, Carol Fraser, Fay Hughes and Emma McCulley were all on the scoresheet for United who are now in fourth place.

FC Kilmarnock kept up their good start to the season with a 2-1 win against Hamilton Academicals.

Raith Rovers meanwhile claimed their first victory of the season and are out of the bottom two after their 4-2 success over Aberdeen. Helen Templeton was on the scoresheet twice, along with Kristy Scott and Jenny Davies.
