Tigers girls set the right example!
 Women's Football News 11 Oct 2008

Tigers Girls Under-11s are looking forward to Coca-Cola League One football in December as one of the commended teams receiving honours in the Essex County Football Association Fair Play Awards for 2008, which have been presented recently across the region.

Earlier in the year, the Disciplinary Committee of the ECFA requested nominations from all leagues for teams to be considered for the annual Awards as in previous years, with categories split into Youth (other than Mini-Soccer), Saturday Open Age, and Sunday Open Age. Tigers came second in the Youth category and now look forward to a trip to watch Colchester United face Hereford United at their brand new Weston Homes Community Stadium on Saturday 6th December after enjoying a session with a C.U.F.C. Coach on one of their brand new adjacent pitches. Open Age victors received Umbro kit vouchers with a value of £500, £250 and £150 for first to third place respectively.

Club Secretary, Lisa Di Palma, was thrilled with the news that her club had been recognised. "Fair play is definitely a part of our club, and always has been," she said. "We're fully behind the new Respect Campaign and already have our own in-house discipline system. All our players and parents sign-up to a Code of Conduct and we feel we set an example as an F.A. Charter Standard club.

"The scheme is excellent and every club should be a part of it! Everyone in the team, from the girls right through to the manager and coaches, are looking forward to the big day. What made receiving this reward even better is that fair play is often associated with teams who haven't done so well in their league, but as our team was also a winning one last season it proves that good discipline is for everyone!"
