DPR Korea became the inaugural winners of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup by coming from behind to beat the United States 2-1 after extra time in Auckland.
In front of a crowd of 16,162, it was the Americans who went ahead after just two minutes, as a long throw from Cloee Colohan was misjudged by Korean goalkeeper Hong Myong Hui and she helped the ball into her own net.
For a long time it looked as though the USA would hold out but with fourteen minutes remaining, Korea drew level. Ri Un Ae crashed a 30-yard free kick against the bar, a scramble ensued and Kim Un Hyang was on hand to head in the equaliser.
The game went into extra time and it was substitute Jang Hyon Sun who emerged as Korea's hero as she drove home the winning goal from the edge of the area, six minutes from time.
