Guiseley v Derby County
 Women's Football News 23 Nov 2008

Guiseley v Derby County - 23 Nov 2008 - Women's Football NewsF.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Guiseley took the main plaudits in the First Round with a 4-1 victory over Peterlee Town from the Northern Combination, a result which has won them the F.A.Women's Cup sponsored by E.On Team of the Round award.

Sarah Dunn, Faye Shipman, Jo Sigley and Kat Naismith scored the goals for the Yorkshire side who are now at home to Derby County.

Derby reached this stage by beating Mansfield Town 4-0 and the win was the latest of what has been a very good season so far for the Rams, who are unbeaten after seven games and sit on top of the Midland Combination.

Derby County LFC was formed in 1990 but for many years has run entirely separately from the men's Championship team. The club has grown from just an open age section to having six girls teams from under-10 up to under-16 in addition to the First team and Reserves. Several of the players in the first team squad have come through from the junior ranks and they blend well with the more experienced players who have been with the club for many years.

Having agreed an official partnership with Derby County FC for the first time in 2008-09. and with a major new sponsor just announced, the future looks bright on and off the pitch for the club which won the Midland Combination League Cup last season, beating Leicester City 4-0 in the Final.

Steve Hall is First Team manager, assisted by coaches Ken Hardy and Chris Sadler, Leanne Beet undertakes the role of captain and Secretary Sheila Rollinson has been with the club since its formation.

The match takes place at Guiseley FC and whilst Derby will go into the match as favourites, the home side may once again be sensing another giant killing to add to their previous triumph.
