The United States of America have won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup with a 2-1 victory over reigning Champions DPR Korea in the Final in Santiago.
Although the Americans made a nervous start with Korea passing up two good opportunities to open the scoring, they settled down and took the lead in the 23rd minute. After Korea had failed to clear the ball properly, Keelin Winters' accurate pass picked out Sydney Leroux whose rasping shot hit the roof of the net.
The USA doubled their lead three minutes before half time with a goal worthy of winning a World Cup. Alex Morgan produced a dazzling run which took her past three defenders before unleashing a left foot shot which found the top corner.
In the second half, the USA sat back on their lead and Korea were limited to shots from distance. It wasn't until injury time that Korea gave themselves some hope as Cha Hu Nam pulled a goal back but, despite conceding their first goal of the tournament, there were no more scares for the Americans and celebrations were soon to begin.
