Combination Leagues round-up
 Women's Football News 1 May 2009

Northern Combination
Newly crowned Champions Leeds City Vixens are showing no signs of letting up in their end of season form and their lead is now eleven points following their 4-0 victory away to Blackpool Wren Rovers. Ruth Cockerill was on target twice along with Stacey Daniel and Paula Johnson.

Bradford City are back in form and they followed up a midweek local derby win over Morley Spurs by beating Peterlee Town 4-1. Kirsty Russell netted either side of half time with further goals from Jess Pearson and Mel Garside.

West Auckland Town returned to winning ways with a 3-0 success against Scunthorpe Utd. Tracey Swailes netted two of the goals, with Lisa Ward also on target.

Midland Combination
West Bromwich Albion will finish the season in third place after they defeated Leicester City 3-1. Hayley Phillipowsky bagged a double and the other goal was scored by Robyn James.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' hopes of a top three finish came to an end following their goalless draw away to Loughborough Students, who are off the bottom as a result. Both sides hit the woodwork and came close to finding the net in an open game which was not reflected by the scoreline.

South East Combination
Enfield Town will play Lewes in the League Cup Final at Bedford Town FC this Sunday (3pm) after the sides notched up wins in their respective semi finals. On Sunday, goals from Kirstie Spice and Charlotte Bennett gave Lewes a 2-1 win away to Welwyn Garden City whilst in midweek, Enfield took a step closer towards a possible League and Cup 'double' when beating Gillingham 3-1, courtesy of Fran Boggi and two own goals.

In the league, Luton Town kept their title hopes alive with a 3-1 victory over Norwich City. Rebecca Kane was on target along with Micky Taylor and Candice Davis.

Player manager Vicky Gallagher netted a double as Wellingborough Diamonds defeated Tottenham Hotspur 6-2. Aimee Whelan, Charley Wright, Caroline Moran and an own goal accounted for the Diamonds' other strikes.

Gillingham made sure that they will not finish at the bottom after they won 2-1 away to Cambridge City.

South West Combination
Queen's Park Rangers captured the league title and will return to the Premier League after they defeated second placed Plymouth Argyle 4-1. Eartha Pond (2), Cherelle Albert and Amy Murphy scored their goals with Katie Middleton replying.

Forest Green Rovers notched up their biggest win of the season so far, 13-1 against Reading Royals to keep themselves in fourth place.

Chesham Utd can still claim a top four position and kept those chances alive when beating Team Bath 2-1. Dawne Campbell gave the Clarets the lead with her first goal for four years before Emma Seal equalised, and Chesham took the points via a last minute penalty from Kat Bowers.

On Wednesday night, Team Bath bounced back to win 2-1 against Forest Green Rovers thanks to goals from Toni Hemmings and Lucy Ambrozejczuk.
