Stars give England good luck message - 3 Jun 2009 - Women's Football NewsEngland players Fara Williams, Casey Stoney, Sue Smith, Siobhan Chamberlain and Corinne Yorston were invited to England's training camp this week to meet with England manager Fabio Capello and the England team.

The women arrived at England's training ground at London Colney and were greeted by Fabio Capello, who spoke with the girls individually and wished them luck for the their upcoming European Championship in Finland later this summer.

Players including David Beckham, Gary Neville, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole talked individually to the girls and asked them to pass on the good luck message to the entire squad. England Captain John Terry also spoke in-depth to his Chelsea colleague Casey Stoney, currently manager of Chelsea ladies team.

Casey said: "It was great to meet the squad and speak with John in particular, they were all very friendly and we stayed around for training to watch the guys go through their paces, which was a great experience for us. They all give 100% even in training and we were in awe slightly on how quickly they moved the ball around and their one touch play. Speaking with John on Chelsea and England was also a highlight of the day."

England captain Fara Williams was also impressed with the squad: "It was a nice gesture of the team to invite us down and wish us good luck for the Euros, it shows they are interested in the women's game and how we are doing.

"Steven Gerrard also congratulated me on winning the England player of the year and that was a nice touch, as was meeting the England manager. Mr.Capello was very friendly and took the time to speak with us and ensure we were as close as possible to watch the squad train. It's been a good day and a fantastic experience, especially watching the boys in action."

England play their first match at the Euro 2009 Championship against Italy on 25th August at the Lahti Stadium, Finland.
