Wednesday make double swoop
 Women's Football News 14 Jun 2009

Wednesday make double swoop - 14 Jun 2009 - Women's Football NewsSheffield Wednesday are delighted to announce their first two signings of the summer.

Prolific goalscorer Sarah Danby has joined the South Yorkshire team for the 2009-10 season from Sunderland. Sarah, who featured in this year's F.A.Women's Cup Final against Arsenal and featured 16 times for the Northern Division title winners this season, put pen to paper at the Grass Roots Show at the NEC on the SWFC stand.

Also signing at the same event was another ex-Sunderland player Rachel Lee, who scored in the British Universities Final at Loftus Road this season whilst playing for Leeds Met Carnegie.

Wednesday manager Dan Duke commented: "These are the first two signings in an extensive list of class players that we are now starting to attract to Sheffield Wednesday. We definitely mean business this season and this is where it starts with the quality signings of Sarah and Rachel, who I expect to play a massive part in our three-year plan to get into the Premiership.

"The girls will fit right into our squad and they can only improve what is an already focused bunch of players. We are in talks with other players that have expressed a wish to come and play for the new look Wednesday. There are certainly exciting times ahead for us this season."
