Ipswich Town Community Trust Under-16 Girls' Centre of Excellence were crowned champions of the Dana Cup in Denmark last week, winning all their games.
Finishing top of their group, the girls progressed to the quarter finals with a 1-0 victory over Athene Moss FK. A 2-1 win against Pors Grenland FB followed, then goals from Rebecca Hawkins and Sasha Diston gave the girls a 2-1 success over Selbjorn IL which meant the girls reached the Final against Norwegian side Stord IL.
Ipswich dominated the game but had to wait until two minutes from time when Emily Heaslip grabbed the winning goal for the team, which deservedly gave the girls the trophy. Rebecca Hawkins was named player of the match, which was just reward for her as last year she had to watch from the sidelines as she was recovering from ACL surgery.
Ipswich Head Coach Mark Lawrence said: "We're all really proud of the girls - they worked hard, played well and deservedly won the trophy. The Dana Cup is a great competition which gives the girls an opportunity to play teams from across Europe and the rest of the world."
The Dana Cup tournament is open only to teams that are members of a Football Associations registered with FIFA.
The victorious Ipswich squad: Amy Cook, Aimee Harrison, Sasha Diston, Hannah Davies, Florence Cage, Sophie Baxter, Coral Young, Jenny Gray, Emily Heaslip, Rebecca Hawkins, Sian Fagg, Eleanor Fround, Kayleigh Steed, Alice Diss, Nicole Pannifer, Megan Lawler.
