Premier League newcomers Derby County emerged as winners of the Preston tournament following a penalty shootout.
Despite a defeat against Rochdale in the group stages, the Rams bounced back to qualify for the semi finals with a victory over Blackpool in the final group game.
In the quarter finals, an early goal from Jenni Anslow earned Derby a 1-0 win against local rivals Nottingham Forest and they followed this up with another National Division scalp, beating Blackburn Rovers on penalties in the semi finals after the match ended in a goalless draw.
The Final paired Derby with Liverpool Feds and once again, the game could not produce a goal despite Derby having the better of possession. Another penalty shootout ensued and, after a number of missed penalties from both teams, it was Derby who again held their nerve to win the trophy.
