Gillingham Ladies FC are pleased to introduce their first football school aimed specifically at girls.

The course will be run by their very own players and they hope this will encourage more girls into football, knowing that it is a girls-only course and the coaches are ladies.

The first session starts on Friday 19th February with ages 5-8 from 5pm-6pm and ages 9-11 from 6pm-7pm, at Playfootball.net, London Road, Rainham, Kent ME8 7RJ. The five-week course costs £25 (reduced to £20 if paid before 12th February).

Gillingham Ladies Director of Football, Martin Andrews explains: "It's been my dream to set up a football school aimed specifically at girls, this gives our players the perfect opportunity to coach girls the way they would have wanted to when they were their age.

"I am also delighed that our First Team manager Ian Varley, who is also a full time FA Skills Coach, has developed this course content, tailored for the needs of the ages."

Each session will be taken by one of Gillingham's FA qualified players, assisted by various other players. All players are CRB checked. Each participating girl will receive on completion of the course:

* Certificate
* A medal
* Tickets to a Gillingham Ladies FC match
* Signed photo

To book a place on the course or for more details, visit www.gillinghamladies.co.uk. Limited space available, book early to avoid disappointment!

Ian Varley said: "(It is) a perfect course, run by players that have worked hard to make it to the level that they are at, the girls will really enjoy learning from them."

Gillingham captain Becky Lyon added: "The players cannot wait to pass on their knowledge. We enjoy working in the community and hope that, one day, one of the girls on the courses plays for us."
