City and Celtic finish level - 17 May 2010 - Women's Football NewsHonours were even in the Scottish Women's Premier League top of the table clash as Glasgow City and Celtic battled out a 1-1 draw.
 
The sides went into the match sporting 100% records and it was City who struck first, Katharina Lindner giving them the lead on the half hour. At the other end, Suzanne Grant missed a penalty for Celtic, but City almost doubled their lead before the break when Megan Sneddon was denied by an outstanding save from Gemma Fay.
 
Suzanne Lappin though she had scored for City after the break but her goal was disallowed for offside and, with fourteen minutes remaining, Grant earned Celtic a share of the spoils with the equalising goal.
 
Third placed Spartans were unable to catch up ground as they were beaten 3-2 at home by Hibernian. Suzy Robertson, Hayley Cunningham and Debbie McWhinnie were all on target for Hibs with Spartans replying through Diana Barry and Sarah Ewens.
 
Rangers and Inverness played their match at Ibrox Stadium with an evening kick off and the sides fought out a 3-3 draw, which keeps Rangers in fourth.
 
Hamilton Academicals lifted themselves into the top half of the table with a 3-0 victory over Forfar Farmington. Susan Fairlie netted twice for the Accies, with Helen Templeton adding the other.
 
Boroughmuir Thistle claimed their second victory in successive weeks, a 5-1 success away to Aberdeen. Alana Marshall, Stewart, Kirsty McLaughlin, Liz Anderson and Kirsty Hamilton were all on the scoresheet for Thistle, while Lauren Duncan grabbed a consolation for the home side.
 
Dundee Utd SC also made it two wins in a row, 4-3 against FC Kilmarnock. Fay Hughes, Laura Boag, Debbie Johnson and Michaela Brodie all scored for United and on target for Killie were Rachel Webb, Nicola Goudie and Lauren Stirling.
