Gillingham have made their first signing of the summer as Lauren Williams has joined the club.
Williams has signed from Arsenal and is a highly rated defender who will add to the defenders that manager Ian Varley has at his disposal.
The 18-year-old spent nine years at Arsenal and has played regularly in the Arsenal reserve side for the last two seasons, but feels it is time for a new challenge.
On her move to the Gills, Lauren said: "I've been looking for a new challenge after spending the last nine years at Arsenal and I see Gillingham as an up and coming team that have progressed massively over the past season.
"I also feel they have a number of good players that could push the team further and I'd like to be a part of that. I am also due to go to the University of Kent to study Sports Therapy.
"I hope to add the best part of my game to the team this season and to help as much as I can to do as well as we possibly can in the Southern Premiership and have a successful season. "
Manager Ian Varley was delighted to have made his first signing of the summer and to have Lauren joining and already successful team.
He said: "Lauren is a quality player and I'm delighted that she has agreed to sign for us. She's someone who I've been after for a while and I'm sure she'll have a big season and prove to be a very important player for us. Again it's a massive signing for us and hopefully the first of many this month."
