![]() Laura is the second Millwall player to join the Gills this week following team mate Stacey McConville in signing for the Club. The 18-year-old had been with Millwall for the last four seasons, starting with the under-16s, in her first full season with the Ladies team she started playing for the Reserve side. By the time the season had come to a finish she was a regular in the first team and part of a team that won promotion to the National Division. Despite this, Laura picked up an injury and spent the whole of last season recovering from a knee operation. The holding striker, who likes to get the ball down and bring others into the game, is delighted to be signing for Gillingham. She said: "The move to the Gills was decided by a few things; firstly I know some of the girls and saw the quality in the team when watching them play. This is also reflected through the great past season the team had. I think Gillingham are an up and coming side. "Missing a season through injury after finishing on such a high was also hard to get through and so I am looking forward to the new challenges playing for Gillingham will present me with. "I am looking forward to pushing on this season as a player but I am also looking forward to starting fresh this season with the Gills. Personally I want to come back stronger than I was before and hopefully bag some goals for the team." Not only is Laura delighted to have joined the Gills but the manager Ian Varley is happy to have signed up the forward. He said: "I'm really excited about Laura signing. She's had a bit of bad luck lately with injury but I have no doubt this will be a big season for her and she'll score goals week in week out. Even though she's still young Laura is a big name and once again proves we can sign big named players."
