Are you aged 25 or older and interested in football? If the answer is yes, London South Bank University, Academy of Sport is pleased to announce that they have been successful in receiving Big Lottery funding, to deliver the 'Female Legends Project'. The overall aim of the project is to use football as the vehicle to engage women aged 25 years and over to become more physically active and live a healthy lifestyle. This will be achieved through three key areas; regular small sided football competitions, health education workshops and coaching and officiating opportunities. For year one, five-a-side football competitions have been organised at the following GOALS Centres across London: Bexleyheath: 6th August, 10th September and 15th October 2010 Wembley: 13th August, 17th September, 15th October and 12th November 2010 Wimbledon: 27th August, 24th September, 22nd October and 26th November 2010 Hainault: (TBC) Working in partnership with County FAs, each five-a-side tournament is affiliated by the County FAs and will be refereed by fully qualified referees. There will be no cost for teams to enter and the tournaments will be played in a fun and friendly environment. Each team can play in as many tournaments as possible and can travel across London to play at the different venues. If you are interested in entering a team and would like a registration form or would like more information you can e-mail Andy at info@activeambitions.org.uk or call (07984) 411160. If you are an interested individual or just have not got enough players for a team but would still like to play then we will do our best to try and match players and team needs together.
