Swansea City's first venture in Europe ended in a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Italian side Bardolino Verona in their opening UEFA Women's Champions League group match. Bardolino took a ninth minute lead with a goal from captain and Italian international striker Melania Gabbiadini and Alessia Tuttino netted twice ahead of the break, the second coming in first half injury time. Gabbiadini added a fourth early in the second half and the next came via an Alicia Powe own goal. Gabbiadini then completed her hat-trick with twenty minutes remaining. A sad day for Powe was rounded off with two minutes remaining as she was shown a red card and Bardolino went on to add a further goal in injury time through Federica Di Criscio. | |||||||||||||||||||||
