Keynsham Town came within one point of promotion to the National Division at the end of last season and are aiming to go at least one better this time.

The Somerset side narrowly missed out on the Southern Division runners-up spot to Reading FC Women and manager Barrie Newton has been busily strengthening his squad through the summer.

England international full back Corinne Yorston, who played for Arsenal last season, will start the season with Keynsham and former England Under-19 defender Louise Hutton has joined from Bristol Academy.

Midfielder Becky Tweed, who helped Millwall Lionesses win the Southern Division title two seasons ago, is another newcomer as are former Bristol Academy duo Amanda Blakeley and Louise Fenton.

Keynsham will be without last season's leading goalscorer Leanne Lapham, who sustained a cruciate ligament injury at the end of the campaign, while long term injury victim Sheila Rocha is still missing. They have acted to fill the gap with the captures of Naomi Clipston from UWIC and they have high hopes of young striker Polly Wardle, who joins from Andover New Street.

The remainder of the squad will still be with Keynsham this season, including key midfielders Ana Bruni and Ashley Reinecke and Polish international winger Katarzyna Rusek, and their cosmopolitan squad are targeting a successful season.
