Chelsea have swooped for four players as they look to build up their squad ahead of the forthcoming FA Women's Super League. Manager Matthew Beard has made several new signings, New Zealand captain Hayley Moorwood joins Welsh internationals Helen Lander and Emma Plewa as well as former Millwall Lionesses centre back Sinead Boyer. Moorwood, who is a former Sportswoman of the Year in Auckland, captained her nation during the 2007 Women's World Cup and the 2008 Olympics. Lander joins Chelsea from Arsenal, where she won two League titles and the 2009 FA Women's Cup, after beginning her career with Watford. Lander is a regular in the Wales' senior side and last month broke her country's scoring record when netting six times against Azerbaijan. Plewa played for Bristol Academy from the age of 16 and after four years there, as well as a spell in America, now joins Chelsea aged 20. The speedy forward currently plays for the Welsh senior side having also represented her nation at Under-19 level. Boyer departed Millwall to join Chelsea, having already played for Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic, where she was a 2007 FA Women's Cup runner-up. Strong in the air and in a tackle, the centre half will be a great addition to Chelsea's back line.
