Manchester City returned to the top of the Northern Division with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa. Lindsey Savage put City ahead three minutes ahead of half time, a lead which was cancelled out midway through the second half by Melissa Lawley. Eleven minutes from time, Abbie McManus scored a decisive second goal to give City their fourth straight victory. Coventry City had started the day as leaders but they went down to a 5-0 defeat at home to Derby County. The first half ended goalless but Emily Jeffery gave Derby the lead ten minutes after the restart and Precious Hamilton struck a 13-minute hat-trick, before Hannah Ward rounded off the scoring for Derby who have moved into third place. Leicester City had an even better day in front of goal, running out 8-2 winners away to Leeds City Vixens. Courtney Sweetman-Kirk's tenth minute goal for Leicester was quickly cancelled out by Stacey Daniel but Sweetman-Kirk went on to grab a first half hat-trick with Chloe Jones also on target, Annie Highway replying for the Vixens. After the break, Jones found the net again and further goals came from Natasha Meade and Jo Potter, before Jones completed her hat-trick. Honours were even at Preston North End where the home side shared a 2-2 draw with Newcastle Utd. Beth Gardener and Claire Pitt sent Newcastle into a two-goal lead at half time but Preston hit back after the break, earning themselves a point thanks to Hannah Bailey and Tammy Burgess.
